Brilliant Buffet

So today I'm going to write about one of the most richest person in the world yet very humble, simple and consistent. The name is Warren Edward Buffet, he's an American business magnate, one of the greatest investors of all time and philanthropist. Mr.Buffet is know for his simplicity and consistency. We all know he's made money by knowing and applying compound effect and he knows stock market in and out. But there are somethings which are also important for his success which I'm going to list down and they are also the points due to which I consider him my idol. So the points are described below -

1. Simplicity -

Whenever I talk about Warren Buffett the first thing that pops up in my head is simplicity. So I'm gonna make it the first point as well. Now why amd what makes him so simple, he doesn't like to make things complicated he keeps them simple. If we take the example, he still stays in the same house that he brought in 1958. Unlike other billionaires he prefers to stay in a simple home rather than a great mansion. For buying house for common people he thinks 'if you can't buy it twice at the same time, you can't afford it'.

2. Little things -

He does small things which have a great impact on his consistency. Small things such as breakfast if we talk about, he has a policy - if the market is up he's gonna buy breakfast worth 3.89 dollars, if the market's moderate than he's gonna buy breakfast worth 3.19 dollars and if the market's down he's gonna buy breakfast worth 2.38 dollars. This has been his routine since long. He gets ready for work he buys breakfast on the way reaches the office and spends 80% of time reading.

3. Luxury -

Now Mr.Buffet is kind of guy who doesn't believe in luxury or he buys luxury which he really needs. If we talk about cars he said in an interview that he only drives around 4000 miles a year so he doesn't need a great expensive car. He still drives his first brought car. He thinks cars depreciate quickly so rather than spending on an expensive car which he really doesn't need he prefers to save or invest his money. Also, if we talk about Mobile Phones, he was using a flip phone for a long time after smart phones came into picture. So these are the little things that make him different from rest of the rich people. Our mentality is to buy luxury which we really don't need to show it off which is not the Buffet Way.

4. Consistency -

As I mentioned his routine from breakfast to office. He's working in the same office since the last 50 years now if that's not a part of consistency then I don't know what is. Also, the staff is still the same 25 people with which he started in around 1960s. He keeps it simple, they don't have any public relations department or general council or any other things. There's an old saying that he believes - 'if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it' meaning don't put attention to the things which doesn't need replacement.

5. Relationships > Material things -

The only thing that is more valuable than money is health (mental and physical) and Love. Those are the two things that you can't buy. So he values them more than money and which is not at all wrong. The billionaire know his great grand children and the routine in which they're living in and it's because he gives them appropriate amount of quality time. Despite being one of the richest person in the world he switches off his mobile phone from night 8 to morning. He doesn't think about business when he's around his family this shows us the value of relationships.

6. Saving -

Now this is an interesting point, why would one of the greatest investors of all time would think about saving instead of investment. He's very different when it comes to saving money, he used to save coins which he earned from selling coke in a drawer in his room. He converted a dresser drawer into a space for his first born to sleep in. Now this is a little extreme but this is just an example, don't go on doing the same with your child. The bottom line is that just don't go one spending on unnecessary things.

So these were the things that make him special and unique from other billionaires. Now I'm not saying anything bad about other billionaires but he's special and we all respect him. I mean he is the definition of simplicity, discipline and consistency. The guy has a lot of pressure not only in investment but in also his life. There's so many things that we can learn from him. If you want to know more about him do watch a movie made on him named Becoming Warren Buffet, available on YouTube as well.

Yash.
