The Eren Yeager Way! (don't judge by the name, read it on)

The topic for today's blog might be confusing by reading the title of the blog, it's related to something that is very hard for humans to achieve and very important to achieve - FREEDOM. Now, when we talk about freedom, it's not about saying anything that comes in our mind or doing anything that affects another person. Let me make it clear that freedom is doing anything that doesn't affect any other person in any manner. This blog can also be taken as a written summary of a book name 'What is takes to be free?' by Darius Foroux. I have recently completed this book (within 5 days, haha) and thought of writing the summary of the same. It's nicely written and the author has given practical ways and thoughts to achieve freedom. Now, I am not going to list out every point but will go and write about several of my favorite ones. Read it on or not it's up to you, you're FREE.

1. This world shall know PAIN -

The first one in the list is pain. We often run from it but that's not true freedom. We think running from pain and not doing a task that might give us pain is called freedom but it is in the opposite. Running from pain is not freedom facing it and accepting it is true freedom. We have got to accept that pain is the natural course of life and we have to learn to handle it. Successfully bearing whatever pain life throws at us is called true freedom. And trust me, we think that life is a suffering when suffering is only a part of life, it's not permanent. When we are free from the fear of suffering pain, we achieve the freedom. The author says "when will you be truly free? when you stop running"

2. EMOtions -

Emotions, feelings, thoughts everything looks good until you're a kid. Once you grow those feelings that looked beautiful will hold you captive. An author rightly said that "it's never that good or that bad as it looks" We let our emotions make us crazy and that's not what a free person would want to do. They are your emotions, they have to work according to your wish not the other way around. Instead of following through, observe your emotions. You'll get to know that you are lead to wrong path most of the times. The emotions keep us busy and that's something we don't want. Doing things emotionally can ruin relationships and trust me a free person do not want that. Letting emotions control your actions can be dangerous, it decreases our capacity to be reasonable.

3. Happiness doesn't last -

We all want to be happy all the time. It's like on the top of our desires. But do you really think it is possible in real world? Happiness doesn't last. It can't stay with you 24/7. It's a feeling that comes and goes. We also have given title of happiness to wrong things such as material things. True happiness comes from the inside. It's called inner happiness. Chasing pleasure may give you short term happiness but we gotta think long term. You don't NEED a Rolex to watch your time. You don't NEED to spend lakhs on your wedding to really enjoy it. Now. it doesn't mean you should not do the above things if you're already wealthy. True happiness comes from within and not from material things. You have to accept the fact that you cannot be happy all the time. Negative things might happen. You have to bear them. Let life take it's natural course.

4. Comfort Zone, not so comfortable -

Now, some might say that being free means to be in our comfort zone only, that's not freedom, that's wishful thinking. Avoiding discomfort is not freedom it's running. Accept uncertainty and give up comfort. A free person is a strong person and one cannot become strong and can't grow by being in a comfort zone. Being broke, death, being alone, injury, etc everything is natural and we have to get used to them. By being okay with these things will make you free. When you welcome suffering, it won't be able to break you. Nothing comes free. You have to pay the price to become really free. Avoiding pain to be comfortable is not freedom. To be free is to accept the nature of life. Going against the law of nature is not freedom. It's foolishness.

5. The best person is never angry -

Never being angry doesn't mean that a person doesn't get angry. He sure does. He knows how to deal with anger (he's the wisest among the people you know). Controlling anger is one of the best skill one can learn. Sadly no one tells us that because no one knows how to do that. The truth is we take people who doesn't get angry for granted. We think they understand everything but we rarely know what they do to control or handle anger. Anger is a very dangerous thing and letting it out can destroy almost everything in your life. It can easily consume you. Anger holds so much darkness so it's better not to hold it for a long time and it's best to never let it be the better of you. If you have the habit of getting angry, you are not free. Anger comes from frustration of not being able to control things and we have to accept that we cannot control everything. We can only accept the things the way they are.
Personal advise - Value those who knows how to deal with anger without letting it out and learn the same from them. They are the ones who are really free.

This would be it. For more, i'd suggest you to read the book (What it takes to be free) if you want. It's a great book to learn about true freedom.

Thank you for reading,

Yash.
